Announcement of the exhibition "Différence de nature", an art work using Nexstetho

ShareMedical, Inc. has been practicing and supporting various researches through biological sounds. We are pleased to support an exhibition of new works by TEPPEI YAMADA, who expresses the "diversity and universality" of human beings by visualizing heartbeats using "Nexstetho".

In a society where contactlessness has become the default due to COVID-19, Yamada's work creates an experience of deep contact and understanding of others.

At the same time, I believe that it will be an opportunity for us to recall various aspects of our social structure. We hope to see you there.

Différence de nature - 本性の差異 -

Outline of the event

This exhibition will feature a large cloud-connected sound installation that visualizes and tactileizes the viewer's heartbeat and the heartbeats of others. This device, which visualizes and tactileizes primordial human life, is one of Yamada's masterpieces and has been highly acclaimed in various countries.

In this work, the heartbeat of the viewer is recorded, stored in the cloud, and then played back again, thereby preserving the physicality of the human body in these two spaces, "the Internet and the real," and making us imagine the social structure that surrounds us. This work, which simply expresses the phenomenon of human life, will also remind viewers of the multiple elements of ethnic differences, multiculturalism, gender, immigration, and refugees.

The Nihonbashi Life Science Building, the venue for the exhibition, is a building where companies, research institutes, and universities specializing in life science gather. In this place where human life and science are created and researched, the exhibition of Yamada's work will lead to various exchanges and innovations.

This exhibition will be presented as a "project sponsored by the 24th Japan Media Arts Festival".
